Uppsala, Sweden – 23 October, 2025 – Tribonex AB, the industry lead in innovative surface treatments for friction and wear reduction, is delighted to announce the successful completion of a new share issue, raising a substantial 15.7 MSEK. New investors in the round are Turbine Capital, a VC fund investing in early-stage deep tech companies solving the world’s toughest challenges, alongside Almi Invest GreenTech, a state-backed climate tech fund investing in companies with solutions that have significant impact for the climate.
“Tribonex represents the kind of research-based, industrially relevant innovation we want to back,” said Karin Edström, Founding and General Partner at Turbine Capital. “The team has taken world-class tribology research and turned it into a drop-in process that fits seamlessly into how manufacturers already work. The ability to move from proof-of-concept to serial production using existing machines enables scalable, efficient and sustainable surface treatment.”
The fresh capital injection comes at a turning point for Tribonex, as the company has successfully completed several proof-of-concept projects with leading OEMs and tier-one suppliers treating critical components within electric vehicles, hydraulic pumps, bearings, aerospace joints as well as heavy-duty engine, driveline and fuel systems. The result is a substantial reduction in friction and wear, which cuts energy losses, service and maintenance costs and prolongs the product’s operating life.
“The Triboconditioning® treatment has shown great potential in increasing the durability and lifespan of our hydraulic motors. By treating key components, we can reduce losses by more than 20% compared to traditional finishing methods and decrease wear several times over,” says Daniel Svanbäck Senior Development Engineer, Bosch Rexroth AB.
The funds raised will support a wide implementation of the processes directly within customers’ production plants. Since the process can be seamlessly integrated into standard mass-finishing equipment, advanced surface performance can be achieved without sending components to external coating suppliers. Instead, the treatment is carried out in-house using existing machines, reducing transport needs and shortening lead times.
“We are so proud to have Turbine Capital and Almi Invest GreenTech as new investors in the company, supporting our continued growth and enabling collaboration beyond the scope of funding. We look forward to this partnership and the opportunities it brings through their network. Their investment underscores the importance of our work as industries move toward more energy-efficient and sustainable solutions. It also provides a strong foundation for accelerating the broad implementation of our solution across the industrial and automotive markets,” says Christian Kolar, CEO at Tribonex.
Participating in the round is also existing main shareholder First Venture Sweden AB.
“We are delighted to welcome Turbine Capital and Almi Invest GreenTech as new investors in Tribonex,” says Rune Nordlander, Founding partner First Venture and Chairman of the Board at Tribonex. “Over the past year, the company has achieved great success in customer testing and in scaling up production. The impact that its groundbreaking surface treatment can have on product efficiency and durability across a wide range of applications is truly outstanding. Together with Turbine Capital and Almi Invest GreenTech, we look forward to actively supporting and guiding Tribonex on its promising journey ahead.”
Altogether, Tribonex can now boast a strong investor backing also including InnoEnergy, a leading energy and cleantech investor that is also a major shareholder and were the lead in the previous investment round in 2023.
