Tribonex has recently installed a stream finishing process platform to perform our unique surface finishing technology Triboconditioning® CG-W. With this process we can make combined mechanical and chemical surface treatments in one quick and efficient process step to counter friction and wear. This means great improvements in efficiency and product life for our customers’ applications within transmissions gears, bearings and various machine components.
The first part of the video below shows a prototype treatment of a cam follower pin. The second part shows an illustration of the wear resistance that is received from the treatment as well as an Optosurf comparison before and after treatment. The wear test was performed in a crossed cylinder test and the wear mark was not visible on the Triboconditioning® CG-W treated component while it is clearly visible on the reference. Optosurf, a great instrument to visualize 3-D surface roughness, showed a great improvement in Aq values that dropped from 85 to 9.
